Congratulations to six Capital High School students (Edward Scott, Graig Andree Abajo, Haize Christiansen, Jesse Burch, Britny Marquez and Raul Alvarado) and their teacher, Barbara Teterycz, for being selected as a state finalist for Samsung Solve for Tomorrow's STEM Competition! The students worked with a mentor from the industry during an after school program and developed a robotic gunshot detection system called Scooby. Scooby can point to the direction of the shooter, distinguish between various loud sounds, and recognize a gunshot among them. Learn more about Scooby: https://youtu.be/Y8DZuxV03lw?si=tB5UGdkqrGWWhxp9 Team Scooby won $2,500 in Samsung technology for the classroom. In the next round, Team Scooby will bring their project closer to life and will compete to become the New Mexico state winner and a $12,000 prize package.
