Alvin Valdez was announced today, February 7th, as head coach for Capital High School's golf and boys soccer program by Superintendent Hilario "Larry" Chavez. “Under Coach Valdez’s guidance, the Jaguar golf and boys soccer team aims to build upon their previous successes and continue to elevate their performance,” he said.
“In his new role, Coach Valdez will bring a tactical approach to building a golf and boys soccer program that not only achieves success in the sport, but also molds our young athletes into adults of character who will excel in all aspects of life. With a strong emphasis on discipline and hard work, he will elevate these programs to new heights of success while instilling values that extend beyond the game,” said Superintendent Chavez.
Coach Valdez said, "As an alum of Capital High School, I am incredibly honored to be rejoining the school’s family as the new head coach of the boys soccer team. I am committed to contributing positively to our school's culture and the broader community. Finally, it is a privilege to be part of a community that values excellence, integrity and teamwork. I look forward to working together to create a nurturing and competitive program that prioritizes the development of our students as both athletes and individuals.”
Deputy Superintendent Kristy Wagner, overseeing athletics, said, "With an illustrious background in coaching and a passion for nurturing young athletes, we are excited about the future of Capital's golf and boys soccer team under Coach Valdez's leadership. We look forward to witnessing the program’s growth and achievements."
Principal Jaime Holladay said, "I am pleased to have Alvin Valdez, a Capital alum, join our coaching community as the head coach for golf and boys soccer. He has been a positive role model for our student-athletes and will continue to positively impact our school community in his new role."
Coach Valdez has a combined 16 years of coaching experience and holds several coach licenses and a United Soccer Coaches Level 6 diploma.
