Mario Salbidrez was born in El Paso, Texas. At the age of four he moved to Santa Fe New Mexico with his family where he attended Santa Fe Public Schools. A proud graduate from Santa Fe High School, he wrestled and played Football for the Demons. After high school, Mr. Salbidrez attended Santa Fe Community College where he received an Associate’s degree in Business Administration. Later, he was accepted into the New Mexico State Police 60th Recruit class where he graduated in 1998, Serving 5 ½ years under the Uniform Section, Narcotics Bureau, and Criminal Investigation Bureau. In June 2004, Mr. Salbidrez became a Santa Fe Police Officer, where he was part of the Uniform (Patrol) Section, and assisted in cyber investigations and narcotics investigations. While with the Santa Fe Police Department, he served on the Executive Board of the Santa Fe Police Officer Association as Patrol Representative and Secretary for four years. In 2010, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant where he served as a Patrol Sergeant until 2013. During his tenure as a patrol sergeant he earned a Bachelor of Science, majoring in business management, from Colorado State University. In 2013, Mr. Salbidrez was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and assumed command of Graveyard Patrol, Mid-Shift Patrol, and later Swing Shift Patrol. In 2014, he was appointed as Administrative Deputy Chief for the Santa Fe Police Department and assisted staff in overseeing a multi-million dollar operating budget, training and recruiting, Public Community Relations, Internal Affairs, and Police Records. In August 1, 2015, he assumed the responsibilities of the Operational Deputy Chief for Santa Fe Police where he oversaw the day to day operational obligations of the police department, which included Support Operations, Special Operations, Patrol Division, and Investigations Division.
