SFPS today announced new principals for E.J. Martinez Elementary School and Milagro Middle School and a new assistant principal for Desert Sage Academy.  “These are exceptional leaders who are deeply committed to furthering excellence in education.  Each is experienced in ensuring strong and inclusive learning environments and motivating students to be their best,” said Superintendent Hilario “Larry” Chavez.

Named as principal of E.J. Martinez Elementary School is Angelique Armijo-Ortiz, who is principal of El Dorado.  A native of Santa Fe, she has served as assistant principal of Ramirez Thomas Elementary School, taught fourth grade at Atalaya Elementary School and Amy Biehl Community School and taught third grade bilingual/TESOL at Sweeney Elementary School.  She graduated from New Mexico State University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and in 2011 with a Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction. 

Named as principal of Milagro Middle School is Georgia Baca, who is principal of E.J. Martinez Elementary School.  Baca has served as an administrator and teacher for SFPS for 19 years.  She received both her bachelor and master degrees in elementary education from the University of New Mexico.  Prior to becoming principal of E.J. Martinez in 2018, she served the Santa Fe community as assistant principal of Ortiz Middle School.  

Shantel Dixon, who is assistant principal at El Dorado, was named assistant principal at Desert Sage Academy.  She is a former English teacher at Capital High School and winner of a 2020 Golden Apple Excellence in Teaching Award.
